How the Well-Being Index helps providers

Anonymous, simple to complete, valuable feedback – plus, a $100 gift card!

Take the WBI Survey now

The Well-Being Index (WBI), developed by the Mayo Clinic and managed by web solutions provider Med+Ed, evaluates wellness in just nine questions. Lehigh Valley Hospital Network (LVHN) and Valley Preferred are encouraging providers to take the survey to collect critical data in the form of de-identified, aggregate reports on provider well-being. This will allow us to look specifically at cohorts on our medical staffs to better develop programs and interventions to promote wellness and mitigate burnout.

Our goal is to have every member and participant of Valley Preferred sign up and use the WBI, so we can assess the wellness needs in our clinician community. Everyone who completes the survey may be eligible to receive a $100 gift card! (See more below.)

5 Reasons to Participate in the Well-Being Index

  1. The survey is completely anonymous; no one at LVHN or Valley Preferred sees your individual results.
  2. The survey is brief, you get immediate feedback, and you can compare results to your peers (based on national averages).
  3. The WBI tracks well-being over time. You can correlate scoring with events in your life.
  4. You get connected to resources targeted to your geographic location and specific needs.
  5. Your participation will help LVHN develop new ways to promote wellness and mitigate burnout.

Q&A on Privacy, Gift Card, and Resources

What does 100% anonymous mean?
It means your individual responses will not be shared with anyone. De-identified responses are gathered and compiled by Med+Ed and no one at Valley Preferred or LVHN has access. We receive aggregate reports for cohorts comprising more than five providers on our staff. These might tell us, for example, the average distress score for a group or all family medicine providers.

How do you know I have taken the survey?
When you take the survey, you will be able to save and print a PDF certificate that verifies you have completed the WBI. This does not include any of your results. If you choose to defer the gift card incentive, we have no way of knowing whether you used the WBI or not.

How do I send my certificate to receive the gift card?
Click on “Transcript” in the navigation to go to the Certificate page. Complete the form and then email it to [email protected].

Is this part of Valley Preferred’s ACE program? How do I collect the gift card?
This is completely separate from the ACE program. The gift card will be sent to physicians and APCs who are eligible to receive it.

What else does the WBI offer?
You will be connected with a resource platform containing 11 different wellness topics, each with a variety of national and local educational materials. These include videos, publications, websites, and various programs that you can use to promote your well-being. Resource referral is targeted individually based on geographic location and specific needs.

Is this a once-and-done survey?
Not necessarily. You can continue taking the WBI and track well-being over time. This encourages self-awareness and allows you to correlate your scoring with events in your professional and personal life.

Please help us understand and assess your wellness needs so we can promote clinician wellness together. Join us in the WBI initiative to ensure we have a full picture of wellness. The WBI information drives program development in response to the findings. Watch this video to learn more about how the Well-Being Index works.
