Valley Preferred Cycling Center Winners again, non-stop action since May 31
One of Valley Preferred’s two cycling teams won first place for the second year in a row in the 2019 Corporate Challenge on Aug. 9 at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (VPCC). Valley Preferred Team No. 1 beat out formidable contenders including Infinera and Bicycling magazine’s team. Our members are passionate; one has been riding with the team for a straight decade, and another only missed one year in 10. Clearly experience counts in the final showdown!
The Corporate Challenge topped off an exciting season at the VPCC, which began with a salute to our members on opening night. That was followed by an introduction of visiting international professional racers to the local media.
Physician Nite, May 31
Valley Preferred physicians and their families gathered against a backdrop of the first race of the 2019 season, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) CL2 with Bicycle Racing League (BRL) All-Stars. About 150 attendees enjoyed great food and friends under clear skies. There were delicious leftovers for the riders when they came off the track after their final race of the evening.
Media Day, June 5
Joseph Habig II, MD, made a short speech as local reporters welcomed international bicycle racing pros from around the world. Channel 69 was onsite to film the interviews, as the riders talked about their Olympic aspirations and how they view Trexlertown as a valuable part of their training circuit. New Cycling Center director, Joan Hanscom live-streamed the event.
As the naming sponsor, we’re proud to support this great venue. The VPCC is a most unique spot in the region because it offers a fun, affordable night of Olympic action and entertainment. (Yes, many of the athletes racing this season were accumulating points for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo!) Valley Preferred has been present for years and continues to align with the center’s values of healthy activity, athletic competition, and community spirit.
