Valley Preferred has initiated a series of quality improvement programs to benchmark and measure progress in a variety of important objectives, including physician self-audit programs and disease management programs. We are continually developing new disease management programs to help achieve quantifiable, year-to-year improvement in health quality for such chronic illnesses as asthma, congestive heart failure, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, vascular disease, and obesity.

Quality Improvement Initiatives
Our quality improvement initiatives have produced a number of successes, including improved ratings for customer service and a 95%-plus physician participation rate in our physician self-audit programs.
Pay-For-Performance
Valley Preferred works with all strata of the health care industry toward the goals of delivering better health for patients and better value. Our Performance-Based Incentive Program establishes clear benchmarks for physicians to meet quality, financial and patient-satisfaction goals, and the program has achieved measurable success in several key areas of patient care.
Physician Self-Audit
Valley Preferred physicians can measure outcomes on a per-patient basis through our self-auditing program. A panel of Valley Preferred physicians review outcomes and measure them against national peer standards to evaluate the performance of physicians and their practices. We offer incentives for physicians who provide care that is consistent with nationally established pathways, protocols and procedures, and we provide special coaching and follow-up for physicians whose care is not consistent with national parameters.
Shared Quality Efforts
Valley Preferred is working with large health insurance companies in various clinical collaborative efforts to measure and ultimately improve care for our members. Using Health Services' existing physician engagement mechanism, we have been able to demonstrate the value of these shared programs, providing patient care outcomes superior to results seen in other coverage areas.
